According to a report from Vietnam’s “Investment News” on May 5, in the past 10 years, trade remedy investigations initiated by importing countries have increased year by year, including anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, anti-tax avoidance, and trade self-defense investigations. Before 2011, importing countries initiated a total of 47 trade remedy investigations against Vietnam, involving 39 kinds of commodities, mainly in the agriculture, forestry and aquatic products, textile and apparel industries. Since 2011, the number of investigation cases has continued to rise. In 2020 alone, there have been 39 cases, with an average of more than 3 cases per month, involving nearly 60 kinds of commodities. As of the end of 2020, Vietnam has encountered a total of 201 trade remedy investigations, involving approximately US$12 billion in exports, and tens of thousands of companies have been directly affected.
