Knowledge of natural rubber and synthetic rubber

Raw rubber can be divided into two categories: natural rubber and synthetic rubber.

Natural rubber: The raw rubber material is formed by cutting the rubber tree trunk, collecting the glue that flows out, and going through the processing procedures of impurity removal, coagulation, smoking, and drying. Natural rubber comes from tropical and subtropical rubber trees.

Synthetic rubber: By-products produced by the petrochemical industry, raw rubber materials with different physical properties are synthesized according to different needs. Commonly used such as: SBR, NBR, EPDM, BR, IIR, CR, Q, FKM, etc. However, due to the difference in the synthesis method, the same type of rubber can be divided into several different types of raw rubber, and through the setting of the formula, any type of rubber can be changed into thousands of raw rubbers that meet the requirements of the product.

The rubber base material used in shoemaking has certain characteristics of wear resistance, high elasticity, waterproof, acid and alkali resistance.

A: Classified by composition: natural rubber, synthetic rubber.

1) Natural rubber: The advantage of natural rubber is that it is very soft, very elastic and suitable for various sports, but the disadvantage is also very obvious, that is, it is very resistant to wear. Natural rubber is often used in indoor sports shoes.

2) Artificial synthetic rubber: It is divided into wear-resistant rubber, environmentally friendly rubber, air rubber, viscous rubber, hard rubber, and carbon rubber.

① Wear-resistant rubber: The wear resistance and toughness of wear-resistant rubber are very good, so it is very durable. This kind of rubber material is generally used on the outsole of tennis shoes.

② Environmentally friendly rubber: also known as recycled rubber, this rubber outsole contains up to 10% recycled rubber, the main purpose is to protect the environment.

③ Air rubber: The rubber contains air and has a certain shock absorption function, but it is not very wear-resistant and is not very versatile.

Rubber and thermoplastic elastomers are a new type of material made by physical blending or chemical methods of rubber and plastic. It overcomes some of the shortcomings of the two materials and is currently an ideal synthetic material for shoes. It has the characteristics of lightweight, waterproof, anti-corrosion, good abrasion resistance, etc., and is widely used in shoemaking processes, such as imitation leather soles, EVA rubber soles, etc.
